HARRIET TUBMAN (THE PAIN BELOW) - HAND EMBELLISHED
HARRIET TUBMAN (THE PAIN BELOW) - HAND EMBELLISHED
Araminta Ross, better known as Harriet Tubman, was a pivotal figure in the Underground Railroad, a clandestine network of safe houses and secret routes. Tubman made perilous journeys back into slave-holding states, risking her life to guide around 70 individuals, including family and friends, to freedom in the free states and Canada. This journey was not just a physical route but a symbol of hope and resistance against the injustice of slavery.
Tubman’s bravery served as inspiration for Art Basel’s ‘Aku World’ displayed at 2021’s Art Basel. The original painting of ‘The Pain Below’ is permanently on display at the Legacy Museum in Montgomery, Alabama.
Hand-embellished prints come with their own personality. These pieces are highly unique because the artist makes embellishments to each individual order with acrylic or ink to give the print texture. This means each artwork is given additional details that bridge the gap between a print and an original artwork.
